The MELANCHOLY OF HARUHI SUZUMIYA cosplay (Pilot Version)

^gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I am seriously annoyed at myself right now. >_<
I can't remember how many times I've taken photos of the costumes just to find them missing over and over again! grrrrrrr....

And now I can't take photos because I sold the Haruhi one already. /sigh
Apologies, friends.

I make posts about our cosplays not only for our own personal use (for proper documentation) but to help anyone out there out as I know looking for references is never easy.

No use in crying over spilled milk so I'll just go ahead with this post.

Haruhi and Yuki were mine and my sister's 3rd official cosplay. I thought the character's personalities were so much like ours. I found the series to be really nice, quirky and spontaneous hehehhehhe

I am a pack rat, I have this mentality that you can always make something out of nothing and you never know when something may come in handy so when we get left over fabrics, I keep them.

These are the photos that we used as reference:

For Haruhi:

For Yuki:
Funny story, we have an actual figure just like this, a gift from my good friend, Quakey.
I didn't want to print a picture for our trusted seamstress to follow coz it would be a waste of paper and ink so I told Minami to just bring the toy over and tell our seamstress to just base everything from the toy, when we got the costumes, it was perfect and really true to the toy as you will see later in Minami's photos XDDD The skirt just reaches the sleeves of the coat. LOL!

Basically, for this version, we just bought like a total of 2 yards of fabric for both our costumes. hheeheheh

The purple for Yuki's was left over from my Hinata Hyuga cosplay, the black for the skirt was left over from the Temari yukata, so we bought only the white fabric for the coat.

For Haruhi's we had a lot of red already, just bought a darker shade of red for the sleeves, the skirt was my old university uniform.

Eco friendly and cheap cosplay for the win! hehheheheh We used a lot of gold bias tape though.

White gloves were lying around the house but you can find them in malls/ department stores.
For Yuki's hat, got that in Quiapo, where you can get a lot of CAT or Military stuff cheap.

The other details were made by me with the use of rubbersheet and rope.

The costume was completed easily, but we never got around to wearing them until recently. I just didn't want to cosplay Haruhi without my Yuki. Plans started to pile up and one thing led to another till we just didn't feel like it anymore. The costume was done prolly by September  2009 hahahaha but we only wore them November of 2011. hahahahah!

We just used black shoes for this, I wore heels but I insisted that Minami wear black flats since she is taller than me and Yuki is supposed to be shorter than Haruhi.

Now for the photos!

Used eyelid tape for this cosplay, just experimenting, what do you guys think?
