^More Myths to bust!
hehehhehhehe
Second installment of my blog post regarding Cosplay Myths.
You can read about the first installment here.

Let us not waste anymore time.

~Myth # 4: YOU MUST HAVE A NEW COSTUME FOR EVERY EVENT / CONVENTION TO BE A GOOD COSPLAYER.

Going back to myth # 3, NOT ALL COSPLAYERS ARE RICH.

What is so wrong with repeating costumes?
Not every one can afford or has the time to make new ones for every event.

In fact, people tend to remember better the ones who don the same costumes. XD
If you can afford it then good for you, but it is not a must.
The trick is to always improve the costume until it is as close to perfect as it can be.
Modify and improve until you are satisfied.

If you are thinking "But, my idol ______ always has a new costume! I want to be like him/her!"
That is entirely up to you, it is your call if you are willing to spend.
Just be aware of your priorities.

It is better to have a few good quality cosplays than to have lots that is half baked.

~Myth # 5: TO BE A COSPLAYER, YOU MUST BE PRETTY / GOOD LOOKING.

Wow. Seriously hardcore. XD

All I can say is... Proper application of make up can do wonders. hehehhhe

Nothing can beat natural beauty but beauty that is achieved through hard work can be the next best thing.

I admit that I am not at all pretty and fabulous.
But I am proud to say that I try and work hard. If I find that I am unsatisfactory then I move on and not insist on it anymore. That is just the kind of person that I am.

Intermission hahahahah
XD rest your eyes first before reading more XD

But being good looking is NOT a requirement to be a cosplayer.

There is a wide variety of characters to cosplay. You can opt for mecha or those that don't show their faces if you are too shy. If you think that your legs aren't that satisfactory then choose characters that wear high socks or wear stockings. If you want more boobs then use padding or push ups!

Options are always available, work hard and cheat some elements if you want to, even. XD
(Emphasis on cheat some, SOME. Not all XD)
It is all up to you and how you will come up with a solution for your problem.
Try first, and take criticism as opportunity for improvement and not as a personal attack

Confidence will also make a huge difference. But if you still think that you can't pull off a cosplay then ok. I just want to remind you that cosplay is not the only way to pay homage to your favorite character, you can make fan art (drawings, stories) or blog about them too.

A pretty face is not always equal to good cosplay.

Death Note cosplay, my brother Lo, my sister Minami and me! Intermission! hehhehehe

~Myth # 6: COSPLAY LEADS TO POPULARITY / FAME.

Mmmmmm... Am not really sure about this. XD I'd probably be bashed for saying this, oh well. hahahahahah
But if you are in it for the fame and you think that it will propel you into stardom then I suggest that you seriously re-think your priorities.

There may be a few exceptions but I don't think everyone is lucky enough to reach global popularity.

So do it for the love of it, not all the really good ones are well known but they still cosplay because they enjoy it.

I'd like to say more but I won't. I am already late for something and I think this is kind of a "touchy" subject.
I think just saying "COSPLAY DOES NOT LEAD TO POPULARITY" would be enough anyway.

Again, if I have offended some people, I do apologize.
This blog entry was not intended to hurt anyone but only to inform.
